Saturday morning, after an early start, we flew into Girona airport, slightly north of Barcelona, and caught a bus from there into Barcelona. That's where we met Christina, who we tricked into spending half our holiday with us. We dropped our bags at the Kabul hostel and then took a walk to the marina and seafront for an afternoon of tapas and drinking in various bars around town. That evening we managed to find the forest bar off the La Rambla, called Bosque de los Fades, where we stayed until it closed.

Sunday morning we met Will who had taken the overnight train across from San Sebastian. For the morning, Tom and Will went over to Park Guell (Gaudi's park) which I had seen a couple of years ago, while Haig, Christina and myself decided to visit the fortress on Montjuich hill. After a good part of the day there, we went to check out the Sagrada Familia, the massive Roman Catholic church still under construction. Originally designed by Gaudi, construction began in 1882 and continues to this day. After walking around inside the church, we took a lift up one of the towers for an amazing view over Barcelona. That eve, after a feast of paella and sangria, we found a club on the beachfront, where we landed up staying until closing.

Monday morning we woke up rather late, and had an easy day walking around the streets of Barcelona, and spent most of it doing just that. After all going for dinner that night, we decided on a rather relaxing night, no one had enough energy to do too much. Tuesday we rented our car for our drive down to Valencia. Driving was fun - firstly a left hand drive, secondly driving on the right hand side of the road. Good times. Didn't actually take too long to get used to that. On the way down, we stopped off firstly at Sitges beach for lunch (Tom knew of an amazing Jamoneria - basically a butchery for all types of Jamon), and for some time lying on the beach. Then a bit later at another, tiny little hidden away beach/cove where we spent some time enjoying the late afternoon Spanish sun.
