After checking in on Tuesday morning, I decided to head out and check out the city. Prepared with my bottle of water in one hand, my map in the other and my head down - I set forth. That changed very quickly. I decided to drink my water, put my map in my pocket and look up rather than down. So anyway, now I was ready to go.

I first headed out to the Arc de Triomf, similar to the Arc in Paris but not as impressive. From there I headed out to the Sagrada Familia cathedral which they're still working on. Very impressive and most amazing looking cathedral I've seen in the whole of Europe.

That afternoon, I met up with Ryan (from Greg's band) who is currently in Spain. We all (me, Ryan and the people he was with) took a walk down to Barcelonetta beach and sat there for a few hours, having a few beers before they had to catch their night train back to Paris.

On the way back I took a walk up the famous Las Ramblas street - the main pedestrian street of Barcelona. It always alive with activity - street performers, acts, plenty, plenty things happening. Awesome to just walk up and down. However, I saw one of the most bizarre things. Three naked guys with backpacks on walking up the street. They seem to be backpacking Spain - completely naked or so I figured out. WTF? Was awful actually. Oh well.

That evening I headed out and came across the Hard Rock Cafe and watched the Italy - Germany semi-final game. Was really good atmosphere in the club.

Yesterday morning I took a trip over to the train station to check about a ticket to San Sebastian - where Guilz stays. I wanted to make sure I knew where to go etc. You could only get tickets on the actual day, unless you book online. Got that all sorted. Nice.

From there I did some more sightseeing, went to check out Santa Maria del Mar church. Quite impressive. But just another European church really. I thought it best to get me a new towel for the beach, considering my was white and not best for the beach. Arriving back at my hotel I noticed my towel had been misplaced. Without going into details, I think I now know how that happened. Anyway, went out and got me a new one.

I went to the beach and chilled there and soaked up the Spanish sun for about 2 or so hours. Was awesome. Got there at about 16:30 and the temperature was 30 degrees or something. Crazy. Even when I left at almost 19:00, it was in the high 20's.

Last night I went to watch the other semi-final game: France vs Portugal. After the game, with France having won, the streets of Barcelona were mad with French supporters. And that went on for hours and hours. Kinda like how SA was when we won the rugby in 95, and this was only cos they got into the final, not won it. Was wild. Everyone followed them arrived and had an awesome party in the streets.

French Supporters

Thats it in Barcelona for now, off to San Sebastian tomorrow.
