On Saturday, after my last post I headed off into town to the pub at the Arlington hotel. Downstairs they have traditional Irish music and dancing, so decided to watch that for a while. Was there on my own but didnt matter with the atmosphere in the place. There was a 4 man Irish band playing all Irish songs which was awesome to watch, as well as have a pint or three of Guinness to. After that, I met up with Claire and went to her boyfriend friend's place who was having a party. We didnt stay long there and then headed off home.
On Sunday, we got up early and went to the Guinness factory for a tour of the brewery. It wasnt a guided tour, but just a walk around the factory and the history of the beer, where it all started, how they make the beer and then we finished off the tour with a pint in their bar on top of the brewery, the highest bar in Dublin. On the top you could see over most of Dublin which was quite amazing. That evening we went to a barbeque at Claire's friends place and then played poker which I lost quite badly at. Oh well.
This morning I went into town to the old Jameson Whiskey Distillery which I quite enjoyed. There they had a guided tour around the old distillery, which is no longer in use but still have all the original equipment. After that got a taste of Jamesons, which was ok - not a big fan of whiskey. Just cos I was Ireland, had to have an Irish coffee, which I did afterwards at the Jameson pub onsite. Definately tasted better there than at home :)
Tonight, we went to go watch Greyhound racing. Claire works at the race track in the evenings so thought I would go watch and see what it was all about. Didnt bet anything (after losing at poker) but had a good evening though.
