Well my flight over to Ireland was awful. Just didn't enjoy it - my ears blocked up and was just uncomfortable the whole flight. Luckily it was only an hour or so flight but have had better flying experiences before. Anyway, its all good. I had organised with Claire to catch the 15:25 bus from the airport and she would get on that specific bus later on which goes past her work. Luckily the plan worked out ok and I met up with her. Really good to see her again! The weather here is amazing today - really nice and hot which is apparently very unusual for Ireland. Hope it lasts.
That afternoon we went to Claire's boyfriend's place for a few drinks and later on headed out to a club in town. They have cheap beer there on Thursday nights so needless to say it was packed. Didn't manage to get onto the dance floor much but enjoyed the cheaper beer and sat outside. That was cool.
This morning (Friday), Claire headed off to work and I decided to head into town to do a Dublin open bus sightseeing tour. Some of the interesting things I saw were some of the main busy main streets, the Guinness factory (will be doing the tour on Sunday), the Old Jameson Distillery (also doing the tour on Sunday), as well as some of the parks and cathedrals. I didn't get off the bus, just watched from the top deck. They have running commentary on the bus explaining all of the sights as you head by. The one park, Phoenix Park, was quite fascinating, its twice the size of Central Park in New York, and six times the size of Hyde Park - which I already think is massive. Otherwise, we went past Trinity College, Dublin Castle, the Dublin Zoo - which is home to Stephen the lion who features in the beginning of the some movies... I'm sure you all know which one I'm talking about. The whole tour was about an hour and half which I enjoyed.
That afternoon we went to a pub at Trinity College nearby the cricket grounds. A lot of the students had finished exams that day so it was packed like crazy with (drunk) people. We spent a while there, before Claire headed off to work. I stayed on with her friends until about half nine when the pub closed. We all went from there to someone's 21st for a while where we met up again with Claire. Didn't stay long at the party and from there we went to a club in the centre of town. Not sure how long we stayed there or too many more details - was there in person, not in mind :) Hey, when in Ireland, drink like the Irish :) Nice!
