Bianca and I met up at 11:30 at Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guards. I couldn't believe how busy it was - there were hundreds of people to watch it. Didn't get such a great place but basically saw the whole ceremony, but might go back again and get there a bit earlier to see it properly.
Afterwards went to Victoria station which is basically a massive mall as part of the station. Had lunch there and then decided to try London Dungeon once again. This time it wasn't as busy and with our Fast Track entry we walked straight in. The London Dungeon is a tourist attraction based in Tooley Street, London, near London Bridge rail station. It recreates various gory historical events in a style which attempts to make them appealing to the younger generation. Some of the more than 40 exhibits include 'The Great Fire of London', 'Jack the Ripper', 'Judgement Day', 'The Torture Chamber', 'Henry VIII', 'The Tower of London' and 'The French Revolution'. In 2003 a special exhibition opened on the Great Plague of 1665.
After the Dungeon we went back to Tower Bridge to get our photo from Monday. They took an official photo before we went into Tower Bridge and decided then not to get it but had now changed our mind and went back to see if we could still buy it. They still had it on the computer so we got it printed today instead of Monday.
After that our youthful nature came out. In the business section of London, they have this flowing stream down the main walk way and we thought it a good idea to race paper boats down the middle. So after making our boats we put them at the start of the little stream and let them go. We were probably looked at like there was something wrong with us - two of us cheering our boats on. My boat came first but Bianca still won :) We even had a few people taking photos of us. I told you... 24 going on 17. That was the highlight of the day so far, if not the week :)
Since I wouldn't be in London for the next few days, we decided to meet up with others like Tom, Haig and Charles for a beer or four. We went to the pub called Porter House by Leicester Square. The one thing about Porter House is their ridiculous selection of beer. They have a full range of beers from just about most countries in the world. Their selection must include hundreds and hundreds of different beers, both bottled and on tap. Could easily spend ages (and a fortune) there. Which we did :)
On the way home, we decided to go see London Eye at night. Unfortunately only half of it was lit up... I'm not sure when they light the entire Eye up, but the last couple of times I've been there if has only been half lit. Oh well. Just another excuse to check it out some other time.
That brings an end to my first ten days of London... so far so good. Loved every minute of it (except maybe the morning after my first night here). Well tomorrow Im off to visit Claire in Ireland for about five days - looking forward to it. Apparently the weather is meant to be good so here's hoping. Well until then, we'll catch up soon. Cheers!
