After our hectic few days over in Cork a couple of weekends ago, and then a couple of nights out catching up with Keith, we needed a bit of downtime with no plans. Except it doesn't always quite work out like that. The Friday before last after heading home and grabbing a bite to eat with Uns, I made my way into town and met up with Si, Mark, Lorenzo and James who were at The Old Bank of England. We grabbed a couple of pints there and then caught the tube across to Temple to see Andy C at The Steelyard which is a fairly new venue set across 3 railway arches beneath Cannon Street Bridge. His set was rather heavy but still good to see him in action again for a few hours before we decided to leave and head on home.
That Saturday turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and rather mild especially for March. So Uns and myself figured we'd take a walk and headed up to Telegraph Hill Park and looped around back down to the London Particular for coffee. Sunday wasn't quite as sunny but still fairly mild outside. Not sure how much longer this warm spell might last but it's certainly welcome to hang around :)
Most of last week was fairly quiet with not a lot on, just keeping things on the lowdown for now. Thursday night Uns and myself met up in town to grab a few things at John Lewis (again) and then followed that up with dinner at MEATliquor which is always a favourite and haven't been in a while. Still as good as it always was!
Friday night was just a quiet one at home and then while Una was out at her dress fitting on Saturday morning I decided to get my road bike out and give everything a bit of a tidy up and clean with the hope of getting back on it fairly soon. That afternoon was the Wales Ireland game with Ireland hoping for the win to get them that one step closer to the grand slam win. Unfortunately Wales were too strong, especially in their defence, and only managed 16 points against 23 scored by the Welsh. Still a good game to watch, despite the end result. After the game we headed out to Spitalfields to Hotbox which I'd heard about but not yet been to. We met Noel and Megan there and the four of us certainly didn't leave hungry or needing anymore food. Really good value for money and gets my number 1 rating for BBQ meats in London. We will be back :)
Yesterday wasn't the clearest or warmest days but dry enough to get out on the bike. So while Uns headed off to gym and the shops I hopped on the bike and made my way out through Nunhead, past the Peckham Rye Common and Peckham Rye Park and out towards Forest Hill and back again to Telegraph Hill Park for a breather and view of the (misty) city and then finally home again for the afternoon. Was good to get back on the bike and hopefully get into a decent habit again of heading out on the weekend, which will certainly get easier as the weather slowly warms up towards summer!
